Planning A Destination Wedding

Planning A Destination WeddingA destination wedding is an ever present option for saying "I Do". This choice made by couples to speak their vows at a tropical location serves two main advantages: a wedding and honeymoon all in one location. Also a plus, with having a tropical backdrop and resort amenities only a few barefoot steps away, the wedding planning process is minimal.

Destination weddings are a bit more intimate and private as well. When you plan on getting married on a resort property, there will be a wedding coordinator available to help situate the basic details. Yet, with plenty of weddings on any given day, personal attention may not be provided. Thus, it is a wise choice to hire a local wedding planner to go with you to the destination.

Now that you have made the decision to get hitched from afar, there are steps to take to ensure your wedding in paradise is perfect.

Take a trip ahead of the vows. To lock in your decision and if time allows for it, visit your top choice to scout the resort, the wedding vows location and check in with the staff.

Time it right and pick the best season for the destination, not the weather where you live. Most tropical destinations have a longer warmer weather season, but you do have to account for hurricane season.
Forewarn the bridal party that the wedding will be out of town. This will ensure they can clear work schedules and have the budget to travel. Resorts can give discounts to the wedding party, but knowing the total cost upfront is helpful.

Gather your guest list. Space can be a factor when deciding who will be celebrating the two of you. Make sure to include flight and hotel accommodations in the invitation. Find fun things to do around the island, in case your guests want to extend their stay.

Buy your wedding attire, accessories and anything else you will need. Remember, you will be staying at a resort in a tropical location; packing can be kept at a minimum.

As mentioned above, don't forget to connect with a local wedding planner. Their expertise can ease any nervousness you may feel about getting married out of town, they can also answer all your questions, discuss their experience with your destination of choice, what documentation you need, decor for the wedding day, and what to expect with timeline of events.

Kevin Lee of Kevin Lee Productions will fly to any destination to help create your perfect wedding. He can work closely with the resort wedding coordinator so that you don't have to as well as take charge of the wedding day's events. All you will have to do is show up and be prepared to say "I Do".
